While our core activity is largely related to drug / alcohol dependency issues, we also contribute towards the overall development of the location where we are situated, which is predominantly an “ADIVASI” (economically and socially backward local tribe) area, namely Sonawe, a remote hamlet in Maharashtra state, India (about 70 kilo metres from the city of Mumbai), by providing to the extent possible:-
1) Drinking water daily.Further, in co-operation with the anti-narcotics cell of Bombay Police, drug awareness road shows were held in prominent locations like busy suburban railway stations and open public places, which was followed up with a live anti-narcotics presentation by our founder-chief trustee lasting 14 minutes in a prominent local T.V. channel, in the presence of the Deputy Police Commissioner (anti-narcotics cell), Mumbai.
The above activities, irrespective of caste, creed, sect, religion etc. have created a tremendous goodwill and we are looking into the possibility of eye camps, blood donation drive, HIV awareness, job oriented vocational training etc. in the near future.
This stresses the point that our foundation’s only religion is “ABSOLUTE SOBRIETY”
To summarize, while we are superfluous with our zeal and the zest for accomplishing a lot more towards the community welfare and the Society at large, we face constraints like paucity of funds, lack of infrastructure like proper approach road, public transport, irregular power supply (though we possess an in house generator) etc. that are impairing the pace of progress we desire to set. However our collective never-say-never-spirit, which is on the look out for benevolent individual donors and institutions as well as developing contacts through like minded people, including those officials in the state and central governments and NRI’s (Non Resident Indians) may see us through in augmenting our existing activities as well as the various society welfare projects envisaged.
